As early voting kicks off in Cobb County’s Special Election for District 2 and District 4 commissioners, the Republican Party is going all-in. At the center of this fast-moving operation is Cobb GOP Chairwoman Mary Clarice Hathaway, who has transformed the local party’s ground game into a high-energy, grassroots operation with one goal: victory.
“We’re Not Sitting Back, We’re In This Fight”
In a conversation with Cobb Voice, Hathaway broke down the strategy behind the surge, gave credit to the boots on the ground, and called on every conservative voter to step up as the final stretch begins.
“We hit the ground running. These last few weeks have been nonstop.”— Mary Clarice Hathaway, Cobb GOP Chairwoman
Thousands of Voter Contacts, One Mission: Win Cobb
The results speak for themselves. Hathaway’s team, alongside dozens of grassroots volunteers, has written and mailed over 5,000 handwritten postcards in support of Cobb Commission District 4 candidate Matthew Hardwick, and made over 3,500 calls for Alicia Adams in District 2 in just a two-day window last week.
“Phones are ringing. Doors are being knocked. The grassroots are fired up.”
The Cobb GOP executive team alone has knocked on over 1,000 doors, with Hathaway herself out front meeting voters face to face.
“Our executive team was everywhere this weekend,” she said. “Postcards, phones, door-knocking, we’re doing it all. I’ve personally loved being in the neighborhoods, talking to people, and helping them see why Alicia and Matthew are the right choice for Cobb.”
Early Voting is On, and So is the Call to Action
Early voting began this past Saturday, and Hathaway has a clear message for Cobb Republicans:
Show up, and bring a neighbor.
“These seats are winnable. But we need every conservative voter to take action, today.”
She emphasized the urgency of turnout in these local races, calling them “the elections where policy meets people.”
“Don’t assume someone else will do it. Don’t wait for the last day. Local races are won by energy, not excuses.”
Volunteers: “The Heartbeat of This Operation”
Hathaway was quick to credit the volunteers who have stepped up across Cobb, working phone banks, walking neighborhoods, staffing the GOP office, and keeping the wheels turning.
“We can’t do this without our volunteers. They’ve shown up again and again, and they’re the reason we’ll win.”
With just days left before Election Day, she says the work is far from over.
“We’ve got five days. That’s five days to push harder, reach farther, and make every single vote count.”
Why She’s All In
When asked what drives her through these long, intense days, Hathaway didn’t hesitate.
“I believe in Cobb County,” she said. “And I believe in our people. We’re not backing down. We’re focused, we’re energized, and we’re going to deliver.”
“With God’s help and the hard work of every voter and volunteer, we’re going to make history in this county.”
