Starting Saturday February 1st, voters in Cobb County’s District 2 and District 4 can head to the polls for early voting in the special primary election. Residents have the option to vote in either the Republican or Democratic primary as candidates compete for two key seats on the Board of Commissioners.
With district lines recently updated, it’s a good idea to check your voter registration status and district information at mvp.sos.ga.gov.
Who’s on the Ballot?
District 2:
Four candidates have entered the race, though only one is running on the Republican side.
Republican Primary:

Democratic Primary:
- Erick Allen: Former state representative and principal at Cornerstone OnDemand.
- Dr. Jaha Howard: Local dentist and former member of the Cobb Board of Education.
- Tracy Stevenson: A retired general contractor.
- Note: Taniesha Whorton, who qualified to run as a Democrat, has dropped out of the race but will still appear on the ballot due to timing issues with ballot printing.
District 4:
This race features a balanced field with two Democrats and two Republicans competing for a spot in the general election.
Republican Primary:
- Matthew Hardwick: A video engineer and U.S. Army veteran.
- Julien Grhas: A small business owner.
Democratic Primary:
- Monique Sheffield (incumbent): A Realtor currently serving on the Board of Commissioners.
