Democrats War on Parental Rights Takes Another Hit: Biden-Era “Book Ban” Hoax Exposed

Books Banned in Cobb County Schools

Here’s a story you probably won’t hear on some other news networks: the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) just dismantled one of the Biden administration’s most dishonest and dangerous initiatives – the so-called “book ban” witch hunt.

The agency announced this week that it is dismissing 11 complaints claiming that local schools created a “hostile environment” for students by removing sexually explicit or racially divisive books from school libraries.

Yes, you heard that right: schools trying to shield kids from graphic content were accused of violating civil rights. It was a bogus legal theory cooked up during the Biden years, and now it’s gone.

Effective January 24, 2025, the OCR has rescinded all guidance that tried to turn this fabricated crisis into a federal issue. The “book ban coordinator” – a position created to enforce this nonsense – has been given the pink slip. And let’s be clear: this was never about banning books. What’s really happening is that parents and communities are taking back control of their schools, reviewing what their kids are exposed to, and standing up for common sense.

“By dismissing these complaints and eliminating the position and authorities of a so-called ‘book ban coordinator,’ the department is beginning the process of restoring the fundamental rights of parents to direct their children’s education,” said Acting Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Craig Trainor.

“The department adheres to the deeply rooted American principle that local control over public education best allows parents and teachers alike to assess the educational needs of their children and communities. Parents and school boards have broad discretion to fulfill that important responsibility. These decisions will no longer be second-guessed by the Office for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Education.”

The Hoax Unravels

It all started back in June 2023, when then-President Biden proudly announced the creation of a “book ban coordinator.” The goal? To intimidate local school districts and tie them up in lawsuits if they dared to remove age-inappropriate or obscene materials from libraries. The Biden team even floated the absurd idea that preventing minors from accessing graphic sexual content somehow violated civil rights laws.

Fast-forward to today, and we now know the scale of this scam. Seventeen complaints were filed against school districts nationwide, including one against the Forsyth County School District in Georgia. What was their crime? Removing books containing sexually explicit content from school shelves.

OCR’s Atlanta office – staffed by career attorneys – originally dismissed the complaint, recognizing it as the baseless political stunt that it was. But Biden’s political appointees in Washington overruled them and strong-armed the district into a so-called “resolution agreement.” That agreement forced Forsyth County schools to embrace divisive “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” (DEI) policies and post signs in schools encouraging students to report Title IX and Title VI violations.

Thankfully, those days are over. The Trump administration has put an end to this madness, terminating the agreement and scrapping all obligations tied to it.

Parents Know Best

Here’s what the Left doesn’t understand – or maybe they do, and it terrifies them: parents and communities have every right to decide what’s appropriate for their children. This is about protecting kids, plain and simple.

Look no further than the efforts lead by Cobb County School Superintendent Chris Ragsdale and Cobb School Board members David Chastain, Brad Wheeler, and Randy Scamihorn who taken a definitive stance in the ongoing debate over the content of school libraries by removing books deemed inappropriate for students. Amidst increasing calls for the Superintendent’s resignation by some local radical liberals, Ragsdale firmly defended his decision at a recent school board meeting, emphasizing the district’s commitment to safeguarding parent’s rights.

“It is the decision of a parent, not a school district, to determine when their child is ready for certain material,” Ragsdale said.

A Fight for the Future

Of course, the Left will cry censorship and claim that this is all part of some grand conspiracy to roll back progress. But ask yourself: is it really “progress” to expose children to graphic sexual and or violent content under the guise of education? Is it “progress” to strip parents of their right to know what their kids are reading and learning in school?

This isn’t about banning books – it’s about making sure schools reflect the values of the families they serve. It’s about pushing back against the indoctrination of our kids and saying enough is enough.

At the end of the day, this is a victory for common sense, for parents, and most importantly, for America’s children. Let’s hope we see more communities, like Cobb County, step up and follow this example.
