Drones in Cobb County: Dronegate Continues

By Heather Thompson

No doubt you’ve heard about the giant “car-sized” drones flying over New Jersey, then New York, then many other places, causing airports and airbases to close or suspend flights. The government insists that they don’t know who is flying them but are completely sure they’re not doing anything nefarious. Well, did you know that drones have now been spotted in Cobb County?

I know what you’re thinking: “Someone is having a good laugh about all this,” and you just might be right. I bet drone enthusiasts all over the country are dusting off their flying contraptions just to mess with the minds of people on the ground looking up, hoping to see aliens or perhaps the last few seconds of life before a nuke hits the ground. Okay, maybe that was a little extreme, but you get the idea.

That being said, there’s still a lot of mystery surrounding these drones and their sudden appearance in the lives of Americans, giving us more questions than answers.

Popular theories range from it being an adversary or aliens to them being our own military test. Now, the test theory has some validity because a company called PteroDynamics was commissioned to create a drone for the military, and supposedly, the testing is being done over New Jersey. However, this cannot be 100% verified, and the company has been silent.

Another theory is that the military uses the drones to identify potential threats over certain areas of the country, which is also plausible.

However, what’s more disturbing is that our government is digging its head firmly in the sand with its fingers in its ears, shouting “LA-LA-LA” when anyone tries to get to the bottom of this extremely odd and concerning situation happening all over the country.

Fox 5 Atlanta reported that Cobb County resident Britain Lockhart saw the drones flying around on Friday, and they “didn’t look like any he’d seen before.” He also shared that “What was really weird about them was that they were over 10- to 15-feet wide with flashing lights underneath them, different colors from green to red to blue. It almost looked like it was like a scanning light.”

Now, one thing we also have to understand is that people are suddenly hyper-aware of flying aircraft of any kind, and many sightings have been misidentified, which exacerbates the situation. However, the lack of communication from our federal government is creating more and more concern among Americans.

If, what I’m now calling Dronegate, is nothing to worry about, then why did Belleville, New Jersey, Mayor Michael Melham just share with a local Fox affiliate that the protocol they were given if they find a downed drone is to call the bomb squad? Also, they were told that their Fire Department is not to approach without hazmat suits.

So let’s recap: Our government doesn’t know who is flying the drones, where they’re coming from, or what they’re carrying, but don’t worry, Americans, everything is fine!

Well, I certainly feel better, don’t you?
