Let’s be honest: the Cobb County Commission is broken, and Chairwoman Lisa Cupid and her Democrat allies are the reason why.
Instead of focusing on roads, public safety, or fiscal responsibility, they’ve turned the Commission into a political circus — wasting your tax dollars on illegal redistricting stunts and failed lawsuits in a desperate attempt to cling to power. While Cobb families are working to make ends meet, Democrat commissioners are playing politics with your wallet.
And now they want to double down on the chaos in the special election for Commission districts 2 and 4 coming later this month.
At a recent campaign event, Democrat leaders made it crystal clear: this election isn’t about Cobb County — it’s about Donald Trump.
“We win these two races, and then we start to turn the narrative back around,” said Kevin Olasanoye, Executive Director of the Democratic Party of Georgia.
That’s the Democrat playbook: forget about your local concerns, this is all about a national political agenda. And their chosen mouthpiece for District 2, Erick Allen, is the perfect symbol of everything wrong with that approach.
Let’s talk about Erick Allen — because you deserve to know the truth.
The Career Candidate Cobb Doesn’t Need
Allen is no stranger to the ballot. In fact, he’s built a political career on trying, and failing to climb the ladder. As Cobb Voice reported in February:

Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris
“After serving one term in the Georgia House, Allen lost his bid for Lieutenant Governor in 2022, and immediately pivoted to the Cobb Commission when that didn’t work out. Voters are growing tired of the same recycled names appearing on the ballot year after year.”
Now, after back-to-back losses, Allen wants a seat on the County Commission, not because he has a plan, but because it’s the next rung on his career ladder.
At the Democrat campaign event, Allen showed just how desperate he is to nationalize a local race:
“The eyes of America are on you,” Allen said. “Are we gonna lay down? Are we gonna just whine and cry? We’re gonna fight. And all we have to do is vote and we win.”
That’s the strategy: fight, politicize, and distract. Not one word about fixing the commission, restoring representation to District 2, or tackling the real concerns of Cobb County residents.
And what does Allen say about his opponent, Alicia Adams?
“District 2 is the economic powerhouse… We cannot cede that and allow an unqualified person to be at the helm.”

That’s rich coming from a man who can’t win higher office and who’s been bouncing from one campaign to the next like a political tourist.
Here’s the truth: Alicia Adams isn’t just qualified, she’s been doing the work while Erick Allen was looking for his next political gig. Adams helped defeat the costly Mobility SPLOST, stood up for property owners on zoning issues, and has shown up consistently to hold the Commission accountable when others stayed silent.
As for District 4, Matthew Hardwick is stepping up because he’s had enough, like so many of us, of Chairwoman Lisa Cupid’s leftist agenda and backroom power plays.
When asked about the Democrats’ laughable claim that he and Adams are “unqualified,” Hardwick hit the nail on the head:
“It’s just a bunch of baloney… It shows a sign of weakness on their part that they don’t have anything to go on other than hearsay and attacks of character.”
Exactly. The Democrat majority knows the tide is turning — and they’re panicking.
They also know that if conservative voters show up in force, Cobb County flips back to sanity.
The Stakes: Higher Taxes, No Representation, and Sanctuary Policies
Under Chairwoman Cupid, we’ve seen nothing but dysfunction and overreach:
- Unconstitutional redistricting schemes that left District 2 without a voice
- Tens of thousands in wasted legal fees, trying to rewrite Georgia law to benefit Democrats
- Talk of higher taxes and policies that hint at making Cobb more friendly to illegal immigration
Now they’re trying to cling to power by smearing private citizens like Adams and Hardwick — people who’ve actually shown up, stood up, and spoken up for Cobb taxpayers.
And they’re doing it all while claiming this election is about “sending a message to Republicans.”
Well, here’s our message: we’re taking Cobb back.
This Is the Last Line of Defense
This special election on April 29 is the moment.
If conservatives win just one of these two seats, we break the Democrat majority and put an end to Cupid’s radical agenda. But if we lose both? The floodgates open higher taxes, more lawsuits, and a Commission run entirely by a Democrat machine that’s openly hostile to Cobb’s conservative values.
It all comes down to this:
- Elect Alicia Adams in District 2
- Elect Matthew Hardwick in District 4
Flip Cobb RED. Stop the madness. Restore common-sense government.
Early voting begins April 19. Contact your neighbors, your churches, the Cobb GOP, this is our fight, and we can win it.
