Here we go again… The professional activists of the far-left have come up with yet another “bold” strategy to shake the foundations of society: not buying things for a day. That’s right—these self-proclaimed revolutionaries are organizing what they call a “Buy Nothing” protest on February 28, 2025.
Their grand plan? Avoid shopping at major businesses for 24 hours—a move so meaningless, so utterly pointless, that it’s almost impressive.

The Strategy of Doing Nothing
Now, let’s break this down. The goal of this movement—if you can even call it that—is to “disrupt the status quo” by refusing to spend money at big corporations like Walmart, Amazon, and McDonald’s. Instead, they want people to only support small businesses, preferably those owned by “underrepresented entrepreneurs.” Translation? If you don’t fit their approved identity categories, your business probably doesn’t count.
Even putting identity politics aside for a moment (as hard as they make it), let’s ask a simple question: What exactly do they think they’re accomplishing?
If a few thousand leftists refuse to buy a burger from McDonald’s on a random Friday, does anyone at corporate headquarters even notice? Will Walmart’s stock plummet because a handful of activists decide to sit this one out? Of course not. In fact, all they’re really doing is inconveniencing themselves—which, come to think of it, is the perfect summary of modern leftist activism.
Hypocrisy at Its Finest
Here’s the best part. The same people boycotting Amazon today will be ordering their next-day shipping tomorrow. The same activists refusing to buy gas from “corporate giants” will be filling up their tanks the minute their fuel light comes on. The same crowd screaming “No Kings” will continue supporting the growing power of an unaccountable federal bureaucracy.
And let’s be honest: these people don’t actually want to live without big corporations. They rely on their iPhones, social media, and Starbucks lattes just like everyone else. But for one day, they get to pretend they’re making a difference—before they go right back to funding the very system they claim to despise.
The Left’s Endless Cycle of Empty Gestures
At the end of the day, this so-called “protest” will come and go without making the slightest difference. It won’t hurt major corporations. It won’t create “real economic change.” And it certainly won’t make life better for the average American.
If these activists really wanted to help their communities, they’d focus on creating jobs, lowering taxes, and supporting policies that allow businesses—big and small—to thrive. But that would require actual work. Instead, they’ll stick with what they do best: making noise, accomplishing nothing, and patting themselves on the back for it.
Tomorrow, when you see these activists proudly announcing that they “bought nothing” for a day, just remember: the only thing emptier than their shopping carts is their ideology.
