The radical left’s efforts to influence local school board elections are ramping up, and Cobb County, is their latest battleground. In a stunning display of how far liberal extremists are willing to go, a California-funded super PAC linked to the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) an organization blasted by many for it’s “hate for profit” practices, is pouring money into the race to oust conservative voices from the Cobb County Board of Education.
The New Southern Majority PAC IE, a “radical justice” super pac backed by wealthy donors from Berkeley, California, has launched a website aimed at discrediting Republican school board member Brad Wheeler. Their goal? To force a liberal takeover of the board and push their radical agenda, which includes indoctrination of students into alternative gender ideologies, implementation of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) policies, instilling Critical Race Theory (CRT) into classroom curriculum and overriding parental rights. The PAC also supported District 2 School Board Member Becky Sayler in 2022.
Wheeler, who has over 26 years of experience in education, and has been a steadfast advocate for responsible spending and keeping harmful ideologies like Critical Race Theory and sexually explicit material out of the classroom, now faces an opponent supported by national liberal organizations. Democrat Andrew Cole, while claiming ignorance of the SPLC’s aggressive campaigning, benefits from the group’s deep pockets and far-left agenda.
Under Wheeler’s leadership, Cobb County schools have prioritized school safety, academic excellence, and fiscal responsibility, but this hasn’t stopped the left from using misleading attacks to smear his record. The New Southern Majority PAC criticizes him for projects like a now-abandoned event center, conveniently ignoring the district’s high test scores and Wheeler’s success in efficiently managing taxpayer dollars.
This isn’t just about local politics; it’s about protecting Cobb County’s families from the influence of national, far-left activist groups determined to reshape education. The SPLC’s record speaks for itself—they are the same group defending a teacher fired for pushing gender identity books on elementary school students and challenging the district’s common-sense book removals of inappropriate content.
What’s more troubling is the amount of out-of-state money flooding this local race. The PAC’s largest donations come from Berkeley’s liberal elites, who have no stake in the values or concerns of Cobb County residents. Their mission is clear: take control of local school boards to implement their radical social agendas—regardless of how it impacts students, families, and property values.
Cobb County voters should be alarmed by this blatant attempt to buy their elections. The same PAC already targeted other Republican school board members in previous elections, spending big to push leftist candidates into power. This is a coordinated effort by the far left to undermine parental rights and indoctrinate children with divisive social ideologies, all while pretending to care about local issues.
Brad Wheeler has fought tirelessly for the interests of Cobb County parents, promoting transparency, safety, and traditional values in education. But with the SPLC and its national allies throwing their weight behind his opponent, this election is shaping up to be a critical moment for the future of local schools and the community’s values.
